The Best Airports in the World
written on February 23rd, 2016 by Rafia Abubakar
I like airports. I might also be one of the few who does. Understandably, I can think of many reasons as to why many people are not fond of them. So it was rather refreshing to stumble on this list of best airports in the world written by a pilot no less. This list and his descriptions have reassured my fondness for what I like to think are the gateways of other cities and counties.
So what are the best airports in the world? The author, Bruno Gilissen, listed them according to what makes each hub special or stand out.
One thing’s for sure, I truly agree with the last one on the list.
Here’s the bullet point version of the post:
Best for short connections: Munich.
Best for long connections: Hong Kong.
Best for airplane spotting: Dubai.
Best for shopping: Seoul Incheon.
Friendliest staff: Amsterdam.
Best food: Bangkok.
Most comfortable airport: Singapore.
Airport with the best view around: Male, Maldives.
Most underrated airport: Helsinki.
Best overall airport: whatever airport you’re starting your holiday in.
You’re in a giddy holiday mood, the stress of everyday’s life falls off your shoulders, life is good, a journey of exploration or relaxation awaits you. You should be happy anywhere then. That journey starts with the airport near your home where your trip starts.

The last one on the list speaks to me the most about airports. I guess that’s the reason why despite all the bad rep some of them are getting, the feeling of being taken to another place is far too exciting for me and I look forward to every trip that begins from these gateways.
