ROUNDUP: Why go out there and travel?
written on December 4th, 2014 by Carlo Villarica
Traveling is not always easy. It can be downright hard.
Let’s not even talk about the most obvious obstacles like money and time. Sometimes, it’s a mindset problem. There’s a level of fear when traveling. You never know what scary experience lies in the end of that plane ticket. You might even shudder at the thought of having to go through a cancelled flight. Maybe even stay an extra day in your hotel.
When that happens, you might have to call your airline, rebook the hotel, inform your work place, let your family know you’ll be staying longer than expected. Lots of things can go wrong.
Let’s say all that happens. In the end, you are still somewhere new. A place you can possibly have an incredibly rewarding experience.
Last year on a trip to Siargao, our flight on the way back home got cancelled. It forced us to stay in Siargao three more days. Initially, it was hard. It was time to head home. We bit the bullet and stayed the extra few days. It turned out to be the best three days in the Surfing Capital of the Philippines. We had nothing planned and we got to truly relax. Not to mention, my best surf day happened in those three days. If we went home earlier, we wouldn’t have been able to experience all that.
Below we will share a few reasons to travel and even a few on when you shouldn’t.
How to Change the “I’m Too Poor to Travel” Mindset and Say Yes to Travel
It doesn’t have to be expensive. To many people, this is easier said than done. “But, in my experience, what keeps the vast majority of people home is not money but mindset.”
When Traveling Becomes Escapism
“Travel isn’t always a good idea.” It’s a simple quote, yet a chilling one. This blog post details why travel might not be the right thing for you right now. It may not be the right time for you.
How Travel Rewards You For Being Impulsive
You don’t always get rewarded when you travel. You still need to take that extra step and make sure you are open to everything a new place has to offer. This blog post shows you the many ways to be open to these new experiences and provides a glimpse of what might happen
Rabbit Beach May Just Be The Best Beach In The World
You might see something unexpectedly beautiful. Something you’ve never seen before. You may have seen many versions of it, but nothing quite like it. Like the Rabbit Beach for example. Waters like that are rare. If you happen to find yourself in a place like that, savor it.
Still need more reasons to travel? Whether you are in your 20’s or your 50’s you’ll enjoy many of the places on this list. Consider this post a piece of inspiration to get out there and see new things.
