6 Awesome Things To Do on Your Next Tagaytay Weekend Getaway
written on September 22nd, 2016 by Kristiana Rule
Tagaytay remains one of the top destinations for weekenders who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Manila. Here are a few things you can do while on your Tagaytay escape:
1. Try an all new high at Sky Ranch
Sky Ranch is Tagaytay’s very own amusement park full of rides and thrills that visitors of all ages can enjoy. Their main attraction? A 207-foot tall Ferris wheel called the Sky Eye—probably the tallest one in the country. It has 32 air-conditioned gondolas that gives you a sweeping view of Ta-al and beyond. Other attractions include the Super Viking (similar to Enchanted Kingdom’s Anchors Away) and a 300-meter long zipline.
2. Have a staycation at these lovely BnBs
If some rest and relaxation is what you need, hide away in one of Tagaytay’s lovely inns and B&Bs. Moon Garden, for example, gives you the feeling of being spirited away. The place is quiet and rustic, decorated with ethnic trinkets. And with only 8 rooms, it’s perfect for those who want to spend quiet weekends in its lush gardens. Narra Hill is even more intimate, with 4 rooms or “kubo suites” each offering a spectacular view of Ta-al. Booking is exclusively available thru AirBnB.
3. Go hiking to Ta-al Lake
What is a trip to Tagaytay without seeing the famous Ta-al volcano? Better yet, how about a trek to the actual volcano? Adrenaline junkies claim that the trek to the volcano is pretty easy even for newbies. One can even go on horseback while exploring the rough terrain. Make sure to bring snacks and lots of water along the way to keep hydrated.
4. Foodie Trip
Tagaytay is a foodie’s heaven! Take your pick from the popular to the hole-in-the walls. Antonio’s is by far one of the most popular places to dine in style while in Tagaytay. Bag of Beans is also a favorite haunt for casual dining and snacks. If you want a low-key and off the beaten path destination, one can enjoy the wonderful ambience at Chateau Hestia, which serves unique Austrian flavors. Purple Owl is a well-kept local secret, perfect for quiet dates while enjoying good food.
5. Twin Lakes Bike Trail
If you’re more of an adventure junkie, you can try out Twin Lakes’ mountain bike trail. It’s 2.5 km of rough road around a lush, green forest with crazy descents and bumpy paths. Biking enthusiasts would surely love this challenge.
6. Paradizoo
For kids and kids at heart, Paradizoo offers an interactive experience with exotic animals like ostriches, camels and llamas. Kids can ride ponies and visit their petting zoo and farm animals. Part of the area serves as a farm and garden, too, so it’s perfect for nature lovers who want to spend some time away from the urban jungle.
