It’s nice to remember the incredible sights, the funny moments and the smiles on our faces whenever we go on a trip. So don’t forget about doing something to relive those memories. Here are some ways to preserve your travel memories:
Take Pictures
The most common, most obvious and best way to seize perfect moments is by taking pictures. You might think you would need an expensive camera, but you don’t. Most camera phones these days do a great job in capturing those memories.
If you need help in basic photography, there are many resources online that can help you take better photos. You can find a few resources here, here and here.
Our favorite photo sharing app is Instagram, but there are many other great ways to make your photos more fun. You can make a video slideshow with the help of Animoto. Or maybe you want to enhance and customize your individual pics? Use PicMonkey.
Collect Souvenirs
These souvenirs don’t necessarily have to come from souvenir shops. There are so many things worth keeping from your trip. Like for instance, your airplane ticket -especially if it’s your first time to ride a plane or if you’re flying with your dream airline. You could also keep restaurant receipts, items with logos of famous stores or any tangible things that have significant and interesting stories. Or you could visit that souvenir shop and buy things like key chains, T-shirts, accessories or even Tarsiers in a can. Wait.. wha?!?!
Grab a Postcard
If you consider yourself hopeless with photography (nobody is, but anyway), postcards are also great souvenirs. It generally portrays the best scenery of a destination. You could grab a postcard in a bookstore or a souvenir shop with a picture of a spot that you have been to. You could also jot down your wonderful experience in that place — the people you met, the unusual things you encountered, the feeling you felt and the things that were unexpected.
Create a Blog
If you are reading this, you are likely internet savvy, probably love to travel and have a few stories to tell. Create a blog! There are so many things you can blog about especially if you love to travel. Making a blog doesn’t mean you have to write (for those who don’t like writing). You can post pictures, videos or anything that can remind you of your marvelous trip. Not only does blogging about your travels make for a nice reminder of where you have been, but it also helps people who want to travel in the future.
It’s not hard to start a blog. There are many ways to share your experiences online. You could start a Tumblr account, register on Blogger or make a full-fledged WordPress site.
Make a Scrapbook
MAYBE you aren’t internet savvy. You want something more old school and meaningful. The traditional way of putting together your pictures is through making albums. But you may as well do it in a crafty way — scrapbook. Your creativity will definitely emerge when making a scrapbook. So prepare your markers, stickers and other art tools. Choose your own themes or motifs. Collage pictures or add captions or labels. Making it with your little sister or brother or maybe with your kids would be a fun bonding activity.
Nonetheless, these are just a few ways of documenting your travel experiences. It’s nice to have a tangible thing to keep and to look back on. You might event find yourself laughing at what you have been through. As they said, “Nothing is constant in this world but change.” At least you kept a part of it before everything changes.
